Overview
Audia is a newly established, Milan-based manufacturer of consumer audio products. They combine cutting-edge technology with striking aesthetics to deliver products that look as good as they sound. As a fresh voice in a market dominated by long-established competitors, Audia seeks to distinguish itself through innovation, a distinctive and energetic identity, and uncompromising quality.
Objective
To design a recognisable and memorable logo for Audia that reflects its position as a contemporary, forward-looking audio brand. The identity needed to communicate vibrancy, innovation, and dynamism, appealing to discerning customers who value both technical precision and bold design.
Initial sketches focused on defining the brand's personality rather than the final form of the logo. Thinking about the theme of 'playful precision', I explored letterforms made from precisely spaced, overlapping ellipses.
The repeated line motif from early sketches evolved into multiple logo iterations incorporating three-dimensional representations of sound. These drew inspiration from instructional audio-mixing videos and scientific diagrams illustrating how sound moves through space.
The logo was refined by layering several waveform shapes at varying opacities, creating a sense of depth and motion. This helps establish the brand as a dynamic and vibrant new force in the consumer audio market.
The final logo set including colour and typeface pairings. The secondary logo has been simplified for smaller applications.
