Light Sleeper
Light Sleeper is an independent record label founded in 2025 by Manchester-based duo Ben Wilson and Sam O'Connor. After producing their own club-focused records for the past 5 years, the pair were eager to branch out and highlight artists whose music straddles the line between functional and abstract.
With the evocative name Light Sleeper inspired by music that accompanies the early hours, Ben and Sam were looking for brand visuals to match. Deliverables included a pair of posters promoting the label's launch party, along with album artwork and related promotional materials for one of their first releases, Agor by Koreless.
Posters created for the Light Sleeper launch party were themed around the tagline "Follow the Signs". The concept centers on an imagined guerilla marketing campaign in which the label name appears in digital signage. The message is reinforced with the posters themselves serving as signposts to the event. The graphic on the bottom left is based on the 5 stages of the sleep cycle, tying back to the label name and the dreamy quality of the images.
Album artwork for Agor by Koreless expanded on a core theme of the record: the tension between the natural and the artificial. All of the visual components emerged from images of nature, which were digitally processed to create new patterns and textures that echo the album’s multilayered soundscape. ITC Edwardian Script was chosen as the typeface for the liner notes; its ornate connectors and decorative swashes contrast with the synthetic precision of the record’s sound.
Out-of-home advertising reflected the deconstructed nature of the record. Elements from the album artwork were separated, rearranged, and remixed to form a window into the fragmented sonic landscape of Agor.
